Writers such as Camilo Castelo Branco, Alves Redol, Agustina Bessa-Luís, Soeiro Pereira Gomas, Eça de Queirós and the children’s books famous author - António Mota were all inspired by Baião’s rich culture and mesmerizing landscape to write some of their most famous novels. One famous example is Eça de Queirós’s “Cidade e As Serras”.
